I want to dye my hair to a medium light brown color?

My hair is currently dark brown/black. I want to dye my hair to a medium light brown, my concern is, it will damage my hair more or make it strechy like bleach does. what is your advice? [Starlia, 8-Feb-2008 ]

Most all hair dyes will cause some kind of damage, since they contain ammonia and peroxide. However a lot of dyes now come ammonia –free and have special deep conditioning formulas. So in order to prevent damage, just get an ammonia free dye and remember to always wash and condition your hair on a regular basis.
