Best way to get my hair to blonde with minimum damage & bleach without having to grow it out?

Hi there I am wondering if someone could please help me with my quiery: My natural haircolour is blonde but i die it dark brown and have alot of colour build up but i have recently started only dying the roots when i get regrowth to try and stop all the colour build up because i wanna get my hair basically white blonde. Also the underneath of my hair is already bleached and i put red in that part. What i want to know is how is the best way i could get my hair to blonde with minimum damage and bleach and without having to grow it out?

Any advice would be highly appreciated. [Tahlia, 10-Jan-2008]

I am naturally dirty blonde and i have had about every color in my hair. I use to dye my hair black(store bought) and then bleached it all out and it turned orange so i dyed it dark brown. I have not dyed my hair for about 3/4 months and my roots are coming out really bad. I wanna go bleach blonde but i don't know what i should use or do about the fact that if i were to bleach it i would be lighter on my roots. what should i do? [Sabrina, 16-Nov-2008]

hey. my natural hair colour is a mucky blonde, but i died it brown, then blonde, and then really dark brown (almost black) i wanted to go white blonde so i went to the hairdressers and they said i need to foil it (highlight it) and then gradually i will get the colour i want. its already had 2 sessions and i am going for my third in 3 weeks time. i have to wait 3 weeks between each session to make sure my hair doesn't fall out. the next time i go in 3 weeks time i will need to foil it again (so it will probably need 4 sessions until i can just plonk on the colour) but my best friend just bought the die from the shop and put it on  and it went a bit yellow but she died it again and now it is white blonde.. altogether it has cost me roughly £300 and will cost more. and it cost my bestfriend about $5. i admit i did go to a expensive salon, but still! ,,hope this helps

Bleach can cause a lot of damage, so it is wise to deep condition once a week. Also use reduced heat, if you have to curl and blow dry your hair. Apply the bleach to the darkest areas first; don't overlap bleach on already processed hair. Bleach will lose its effectiveness if it dries out, so cover your hair with a plastic cap. Bleaching your hair has not time limit. You have to keep an eye out to make sure your finished color can be achieved. Remember darker hair types may require 2 bleaching sessions.
