Can you tell me some haircut tips for thick hair?

I have very thick hair. I would like a style that is short in the back and long in the front but when hair dresser cut my hair for some reason they thin the top until it is cut shorter than the back. So now I have a very depressing style. Can you please help me? [Evil, 29-April-2009]

I am 35 years young and have had EVERY hairstyle and color imaginable..(I survived the 90's "claw" bangs and going through a can of Aqua Net on a weekly basis)- AnyWHO - being as it may - I am thin girl with a small head and a high forehead. Whatever you don, do NOT go with blunt bangs. It is VERy important to have bangs but not super short ones or like i said, blunt, straight bangs. My hair was the cutest and received the most compliments when it was right above my shoulders with waves and bangs swept to the side. I kinda made sure the back was very full with some lift on top. IT WORKED!! I felt very confident with that look. However, I am always trying new things with my hair and currently it is pretty short with pixie like bangs. (When I was pregnant I cut all my hair off like a lot of women do). I get compliments on my hair like this but I also make sure to keep it as full as possible, (my hair is thick naturally) with whispy bangs. ALSO - remember, where ever the layers fall will emphasize that part of your face. For instance, if you have a short bob with the ends falling where your mouth is, your mouth will be emphasized. If your bangs and the rest of your hair is shorter with the ends falling where your beloved longer nose is, you can guess what that emphasizes. I suggest asking your hair dresser for a good cut for your face regardless of how great that picture looks in a magazine. We all have different textured hair and facial structure. SO, until either a nose job becomes covered by my health insurance, I will stick with way hair at a bob length near my shoulders. No matter how much I want my hair to look like Michelle William's super short cut...

you should have medium hair cut so your hair grows healthy as long hair get double mouth (split ends). Also you should have layer cutting with front baby cut
