I have the same kind of hair, to comb it without damaging it i use a wide tooth comb, no frizz, no damage. I also put this coconut serum after i shower, it helps seal the ends and strengthens hair.

Advice by Kylie 6-Aug-2009

First of all...It makes it frizzier when you blowdry your hair. Second of all, don't wash your hair everyday. Wash it twice every week...And a couple days before you wash it again it should be easier to straighten. Use deep conditioner everytime you wash your hair. And when your hair poofs up BE CAREFUL when you brush it, if it's really thick your hair will rip and that will cause split ends.
I hope that information helps for straighter, healthier hair.

I have the exact same hair but the wierd thing is before i was 11 my hair was totally straight and not near as thick. i dont really like my puffy hair that much either but here is my advice. if you dont mind your hair curly some days: wash your hair and dont blow dry (it makes mine more puffy) and dont brush( always makes it more puffy) then to tighten curls and loose some frizz scrunch mousse into your hair then do a half ponytail to take away the puffyness from your face and put it into a hair BAND, THEN YOU CAN SHOW OFF YOUR PRETTY CURLS with out the puff!!!

Advice by Celeste 17-July-2009

SAME HERE! I got my hair from my grandmother, but for some reason my hair is worse. TRY THIS:
Use natural hair products, with fruit. It wil soften, curl, and relax your hair. And don't put too much hairspray, it will make your hair dirty, and just after washing it,it will loose it's shine, so stick with natural stuff!

Oya! These all sound like my hair: thick, dry, curly, wavy, blah, blah, blah! Yup that's me! I have hated my hair forever, if i could get some advice on what style looks good with that type hair and a squarish face, also red hair! That would be great, i have been thinking about cutting it short but i'm scared it will g super pooffy and frizzy, like it already does, but right now i can put it in a ponytail/bun like i have for the past 10-15 years EVERYDAY!!! Guys i need some advice bad! what type style is good for my ugly mop top?

Hey people, I've got really puffy frizzy hair, if you have hair like mine you can actually put your hair in braids before you go to bed (medium size braids) and then the next morning just undo the braids and your hair should be able to stay curly (and flatter than before). Then you can style your hair before school, just avoid touching it to much or it'll get puffy. The downsides to this are don't get it wet, if it rains take a hair tie and tie your hair back and put your hood up. And snow same thing :) Hope this helps!

I have the exact same problem! A good thing to do it first go to a hair cutting person and ask for a "thin" He/She will thin out your hair by cutting each layer down. It makes it look thinner. For frizz, try hair oil. It keeps it down for a long time. This is my solution. It sure works!

Advice by Tamina 29-Dec-2008

i have the same problem but probably on a much larger scale. like when i leave it out it is almost an afro. it is EXTRMELY thick at the back. nothing works.

Advice by Karen 2-Dec-2008

It sounds like we have the same problem. I dont know of any good haircuts. I just grew my hair out pretty long (nearly halfway down my back) and had my stylist put a few layers in and some bangs. I use tons of condition (Pantene or John Frieda Frizz-ease) some leave-in conditioner (TiGi Catwalk) and last, once my hair is some-what dry, i spray on this amazing frizz-control and shine-enhancer by Tresseme. That last product is fabulous. Its very fine, clear mist and smooths away frizz without making my hair greasy. It really makes it look like hair from one of those Herbal Essences commercials. I rarely straighten my hair. I wear it down usually with the part slightly on the side, or in a really low pony. Hope this helps!

Advice by Jessica 1-Oct-2008
Well i have like the same type of hair. curly, thick, and frizzy. it sometimes bugs the crap out of me, but everyone seems to love it. wat i do, is when i am in the shower i use herbal essence shampoo and conditioner, little shampoo and lots of conditioner. when i get out i immediately put it in a head towel and leave it for bout 30 minutes. then i take it out, using curly moose and no frizz gel, and don't touch it. The oils on your hands make your hair frizz, as does brushing it. so try to touch it as little as possible, and it will be fantabulous. Hope i helped!

Hey guys I have Had thick frizzy pubic like hair my whole life its painful I know I have tried absolutely everything then One day I found the answer but CAUTION this is a drastic time consuming event and I only suggest it for a red carpet type event where you want your hair perfect (you may need help from a second person) this is what you will need:

a) PERMING KIT
b) HAIR DRYER
c) HAIR STRAIGHTENER
d) BABY OIL (a natural mineral oil)
e) GLOSS AND SHINE SPRAY
f ) HAIRSPRAY
g) CONDITIONER

ok first of all put perm solution all throughout your hair don't get in eyes try not to get on skin may get red and irritated and itchy but pain is beauty you all be ok, leave on for 45 mins max continuously brushing hair down (this chemical breaks bonds of your hair so they can be reshaped) don't stop brushing hair straight down until 45 mins is up, then rinse with warm water for 15 min's at neutralizer and wash out again. Now this will be a big change in its self so better to leave your hair for a week before next step and do not shampoo your hair just condition the hell out of it for that week. now the day before your big event get your helper to blow out your hair with a hair dryer and round brush starting at the ends in small sections and pulling the hair down with the brush and blow dryer(off course your hair will need to of been dampened) your hair may look a bit puffy but don't worry. now ad a generous amount of baby oil all throughout hair and begin to straighten small sections from as close to the root as you can and literally squeeze straighten er tight and pull to the ends of hair keep your head where it is you own the straightener it does not own you after this your hair obviously is looking shift hot so all you need now is a little hair spay and gloss and shine you can ad gorgeous waves or curls to the bottom length of your hair if you want but always keep the roots straight hope this helps you out get back to me with your comments good luck and be that movie star you are.

Advice by Sam 22-July-2008
My Hair is thick and puffy and slightly curly. What I usually do is just use dove straightning cream and straighten it. After, to get volume I tease it and part it any way I like. Hope I helped :)

i need lots of help with my hair and how to style it, i'm thinking of curling it in the ends but my hair is 1 inch off my sholder and its going to end up like a big puffy messed up mop.....owell, guess i will straighten it..

Advice by June 20-June-2008
Grow your hair long! I have been fighting with the frizz for years now at chin and shoulder length, but i let my hair grow out super long and it turns out i have nice wavy curls when they're weighed down by the length. I recommend it.

Advice by Breanna 27-May-2008
OMG me too but i am african american and my hair is very different from most so let me tell u if ur white using black hair products help u very much BUT DONT EVER USE A PERM ever unless u get a curly one but ill try it!!!

Advice by Fran 4-May-2008
well, there is one hairstyle that REALLY REALLY suits puffy hair,  the scene kid hairstyle,  look up kiki kannibal hairstyle picture on google, puffiness suits that type of hairstyle.

Advice by Alexis 2-May-2008
I have the same problem. My hair puffs up the more. I brush so I brush in the shower.I only do this some of the time becuase it  realy damages my hair. When I do not brush in the shower i braid my hair in to  to pig tails. Or I straightin my hair. but only sometimes.

Advice by Shea Pollard 28-April-2008
My hair is a natural corkscrew curl. i have fought it all my life. Ilove my hair now and will give you some tips. (a book called 'curly girl' is where i found out how to do it.)
I no longer shampoo my hair. haven't in months - i use conditioner daily to wash my scalp. once a week i use brown sugar mixed with conditioner to 'exfoliate' my scalp. When showering, i run condtioner through my hair and then step under the water very briefly... leaving most of the conditioner in. i then take a t-shirt and 'scruch' my hair up soaking up the water til it's no longer dripping. I run my fingers through it to get out tangles. no brush, comb or anything. just fingers. then i 'scrunch' in my hair gel. hair might feel a little slimy :). I use a little gel to go over the top of my hair. then i pin my hair at the part so that it has some volume and pin in place any curls that are unruly. then let air dry. if you can't use a diffuser set on cold. when i am all done - i remove the pins and spray 'vegetable glycerin' on my hair. all done! it's absolutely gorgeous now!!!!

I have the same problem. if you want to go straight then try bed head product but the thrid one does cause flakes so you may not want it. Now if you want o stay culry then try either the herbal essence totally twisted collection or the hello hydration or the Garnier Fructis one for curly hair. After conditioning it let if drip dry a bit just a few mins then add the leave in conditioner generously and the ati-frizz afterwards and continue to scrunch the hair this helps me out, goodluck.

Advice by Marissa 20-April-2008
I have the same thing. First of all, i can tell you have damaged hair. Get the ends trimmed off, it will make a huge difference.  Do not cut it to short or it will puff more. Comb your hair, while you are in the shower and it is wet. Buy some hot oil treatments, they help a lot. They repair the damage that causes hair to be, frizzy, puffy, and knotty. They are so good for your hair, it gives it such shine, and the nicest texture.  What really helps is actually using a spray that puts your hair in loose curls.  The straightening ones just make your hair look frizzy yet dead. The curling ones make it look softer and more tame. I have no idea why, but what really helps me is using the shampoos and conditioners for color treated hair.  Even though mine is not dyed.  They are much more gentle on your hair, and don't remove the oils that keep it smooth.

Hi. Angela, how did you get your hair 'relaxed'? I have aweful hair and it's so hard to look after! It's thick, curly, frizzy and everything bad! My hair length is up to my chin and I usually wear a head band in it. All my friends say they love it, but thats only when I style it. I have to wash it two times a day just to keep the tangles out of it, otherwise it's impossible to brush! I really need help, but I can't find any! I would like to cut my hair short, but I can't find the right hair style and I'm not even sure if I should cut it shorter!! Help!!!

Advice by Jennifer 18-Feb-2008
I have the same proplem too, my hair is thick, curly, frizzy, and SO puffy! I hate it!I have to wear a ponytail most of the time. What I done is straighten my hair.

Advice by Caroline 17-Feb-2008
OMG, i have exactly the same problem, so i just use lots of moisterising (hair masks and conditioner.etc.) products, dont brush it after is washed and  wrap it up in a towel on the top of your head untill its dried (this takes a long time) and then use things like mousse and pull your hair down instead of puffing it up or you could get a straightener and straighten your hair or get a curling iron to make the curls look a bit more tamed (works for me) hope this helps.

Advice by Kathy 5-Feb-2008
I also have very thick curly hair that is also coarse. I have found that cutting hair short only makes it curlier, I haven't had any luck straighting my hair, doesn't even relax it. but what I have found to help is using a shampoo, conditioner, mousse AND spray gel that is made specifically for curly, frizzy hair.  My fav is pantene!!! Make sure it says FOR CURLY, FRIZZY HAIR!!!  Blow dry on low while scrunching. Aussie and pantene (I think, pantene) make a spray for humidity, Aussie spray works wonders. Good luck to you!!!

Advice by Angela 6-Dec-2007
I have the same problem! its really annoying. so i got it relaxed and now i really love me hair. its like naturally looking straight and from the bottom is naturally curly--really little, so the overall hair looks natural, i basically got the middle part relaxed so its natural.
