Beautiful hair is strong, healthy and luxurious. Healthy strands boast tightly closed cuticle layers. If your hair is healthy or in good condition then it shines, swings, feels good when touched and has no "canfyfloss" or split ends. The easiest route to healthy hair is to avoid hair damaging things. The first step in growing out your hair is by getting rid of all the damaged and unhealthy parts.

Here are some tips on how to make your hair healthy and grow long

  • Avoid strong shampoos and use gentle shampoo on hair.
  • Tools such as blow dryer's, flat irons, rollers, etc.. should not be used.
  • There are some natural and ariticial products that will help your hair growth. You can go down to your local walgreens or vitamin store to see what kind of pills you can take to help increase hair growth.
  • Biotin is a good suppliment to help increase the natural hair growth
  • Healthy diet is very important for hair growth. A healthy hair growth needs protein, Vitamins (A, B, C, D E, B Complex), iodine, phosphorus, copper, iron, magnesium and potassium. Milk and milk products, fruits and fresh vegetables are essential for healthy hair. Drink eight to ten glasses of water in a day.
  • Vitamin D helps in improving the health of hair. The hair becomes thick and shiny with Vitamin E. You may consult a doctor for a healthy diet.

Hair Growth - How hair grows?

As each strand of hair grows, it moves through three development stages: anagen, catagen and telogen. The anagen stage is your hair's growth period which lasts from 3 to 5 years. At the end of the growth period, the follicle prepares for a rest.

The transition period which lasts a month is called the catagen stage. During this stage, the strand is still secure in the follicle but the lower portion of the follicle collapes. The telogen stage is the resting period and lasts for about 3 to 4 months. At the end of the resting stage, the hair falls from the follicle and a new hair begins to grow and the hair growth cycle continues.

My hair use to be long, I would say the length was mid-way of my back. Last year I went to the salon to get it dyed, the stylist completely fried my hair to the point where it was falling out. After that day my hair was never the same again. I actually had to go to Vitto Mazza (hair salon) to get a treatment on it, and they had to cut my hair up to my neck. My hair was so ruined that I wore hair extensions, with the hair extensions my hair grew but I kept having to have to cut my ends cause they were so damaged. It's almost been a year now, and my hairs finally almost recovering. I took off the extensions to let my hair breath. I just recently went for another trim for my hair. I have been doing a lot of treatments for my hair. I use the shampoo "mane and tail" as well as the "mane and tail" conditioner. This can be purchased at Wal-Mart. I use the shampoo to wash my hair, then I get out the shower and towel dry my hair and combo it with a tooth pick bush. After wards I apply the conditioner, I leave that in for a good 6mins. Then I wash the conditioner out with cold water. I also use "shea butter green tea" it's a reconstructing deep treatment, I towel dry my hair after the conditioner and I place the shea butter green tea into my hair and leave it there for 10mins. I noticed my hair has gotten a lot thicker. Thick, strong hair, helps your hair to grow faster, not to mention gives it a full healthy look. The shea butter green tea can be found in the African American product section of walmart. Use a lot of products that consist of aloe, coconut oils, and vitamin E. If your one of those girls (like myself) who love to blow dry, straighten and diffuse hair, you're going to have to find a serum that protects your hair from the heat appliances. Try your best NOT to use the hair straighter (that's direct heat clamped on to your hair). The serum I use is called smooth down (heat glide) by redken, this product can be found at a salon. If you have curly hair and love to use the diffuser, buy a leave in conditioner and use that instead of gel. Also use mousse and hair spray instead of gel. Gel clogs your pores. I am not African American, but most of my hair products like the hair oils and hair creams i purchase, are for women who have African American hair. Those products are probably the best because they use natural essential oils that are vital for hair growth. Take a vitamin as well, biotin is very good you can buy that at vitamin world or GMC. Also look into Nixon, it's a hair care line, but they also have a vitamin. I am currently taking that vitamin. Make sure you cut off all your damaged hair because to grow hair it must be healthy. Trust me I should know! I know it sucks having short hair, but be patience, it will grow! =)

I remember when my sister gave me a bad because my hair was so curly.she ruined my hair. I didn't cut at all because it was up to my ears it was growing after years but it wasn't the same. Then I found pantene's beautiful lengths and I used it for 2 years believe it my hair was up to my neck. Then I got the courage to finally cut my hair last year and it was much shorter but with beautiful length it grow in just 3 months. And i haven't had split ends since then now my hair is a little past my shoulders. Use pantene its the best it makes your hair soft shinny and 12 times stronger no lie its the truth no scam its the real thing .I'm only 14 years old and my hair has never been this long before and now you could see that its passing my shoulders every one at school says my hair is so shinny and soft and they all want to play with it.

well i am natural with a beautiful full head of hair and never knew how much hair i can someday have. even when i had a perm i used natural hair methods and watched my hair grow but it was thin so i decided to go completely natural not only physically but with my hair products, no chemical use, NO HEATING APPLIANCES...i do use a blow dryer here and there but on cool setting and once hair is detangles because my shrinkage is crazy lol and also biotin and h/s/n (hair skin nails) are the bombbbb which reminds me i need to reup on them good luck!

once your hair gets to a certain length dont get individual braids is does nothing for your hair but breaks it off especially if you get relaxers just leave individual braids alone all together does  not help i repeat you will regret it they will thin your edges out and some times your ends i can help but stress it  once your hair get shoulder length leave micros kinky twist ect. alone and when your stylist make a suggestion saying you shouldn't do something with you hair listen really listen or sometimes you will have hell to pay their there  to help..and on relaxed hair braid arent good back to back any ways..i hope i helped some one not make the same mistakes i made!!!!

I had over frizzy and dry curly hair since i was a little girl.. i cried everytime my mom tried to comb them.... but for the past 2 years (em 18 now) i just oil them regularly and belive me.... girls love to feel my hair in their fingers now. a good oil just couple of hours befor you shower does lots of good to hair....it gives them a permanent shine, smoothness and body.... and u wont complain about a dry scalp. all the best with ur hair.

Okay, No heatttt, vitamin E, trimm regularly, NO BLEACHING (dying is fiine) Should take about 1 month for one inch!! :] My hair is at my hips!

If you put your hair in a ponytail, it grows faster. just a month ago my hair was up to the middleof my neck and now its a little past my shoulder. Also massaging it helps hair. check on google for more.

Its a good idea to stop using the flat iron, blow dryer, and curling iron. These tools damage your hair by burning it. in the shower masage your head, it will loosen the hair follicules. also its a good idea to get a trim about once every eight weeks to cut off all the split ends that will eventually fall off. Many people dont like to get hair trims because they dont want to lose any length, actually people lose more length by not trimming their hair. this is because the split ends grow up higher and higher into the hair and they eventually get so brittle they fall off. This is good advice and its working for me!
