Relaxed hair

hello, i have relaxed hair and its not really long but its long enough for me to want to keep the length. I am tired of my relaxed hair.. its too straight. when i wash it and let it dry its too straight. i want curls back..but i dont want to have to grow my hair out because i dont know a good way and my hair doesnt grow very fast.

I was wondering if their was a way i could do sonething to my hair so that it coud stay curly even though i have a relaxer? and if i did grow myhair out what would a permanent wave do to my hair? [ Megan Bowen 17-June-2007 ]

My hair was relaxed but then it growing afro my mum says it's bad for people's hair and i need something to make my hair silky long and strong my hair is a short bushy afro. Any Advice? [ Aminata 15-July-2007 ]

Meagan: You should use sponge rollers with end papers or bobby pin your hair at night instead of wrapping it. That will give your hair more body.

Aminata: Let me be very honest. An afro is good for the hair if taken care of properly. Too often people think that no chemicals means no work. NOT TRUE! You have to keep your hair moisturized. Also at night braid it into around 8-16 braids and sleep with a satin scarf or hair cap.

Rose: Weaves are beautiful, easy, and these days cheap. Every now and then is ok but if you constantly do it you'll pay for it a few years from now.

Allie: I would advise you to find a natural style and keep away from chemicals for a bit. For short hair I find that a two-strand twist style works best and for going out at night you can put mousse on them and wrap them around some rollers to dry for a cute curl.

Abbi: Hair grows slowly. Nothing is going to make it grow any faster than what it already does. What you have to do is take care of your hair properly so when it stays healthy and you not lose length from broken hair.

Hi Ladies!

Henrietta how did you find the courage to stop weaving?  I have had weaves now for over 10 years and its sooooo hard to stop.  I have a ton of natural hair that braided and then the weave is sewn in.  My plan is to stop weaving my hair next year (July 09).  I started taking hair viataims and slowly getting myself used to the idea.

Any suggestions from your experience?

Hi ladies! Firstly some background information on myself. My relaxed hair remained at a damaged ear length for years and i decided to hide my hair by using weaves. Although they looked great, i always felt insecure about letting anyone see my real hair.

I got serious with caring for my hair in  sepetmber 2006. Now my hair is below my armpitlength. So i feel my advice will work for you.

Firstly, cut down your relaxer usage, and as for those considering a wave, Your hair WILL fall out (cant stress this enough).

If you want your curly hair back without having short hair, simply stop relaxing. Wash you hair once a week with a good  moisturising shampoo and follow with a good hair treatment afterwards. Iwill suggest Organic Root stimulator  Creamy aloe shampoo and ORS mayonnaise hair treatment. To have your hair looking good, rollerset after washing but DONT blowdry or use heat. They are very damaging to the hair. You can blow out the roots so that they match the rest of your hair.

To go natural, keep doing this till your hair is long enough to cut out the relaxed ends. If you want strong relaxed hair (my hair is still relaxed) that grows long, follow the above technique but relax your hair every three months. Also, dont brush your hair, only use a wide tooth bone comb on your hair, and treat it very gently.

For more details, ask away. Iw'll be happy to explain further. Hope this helps.
