1940's Hairstyles Ideas

The 1940's was known for the beautiful hairstyles that celebrities, such as Katharine Hepburn, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis and Judy Garland, wore. One of the best things about 1940's hair styles is that they can still be worn elegantly today. Before you try to create a forties hair style on your own, there are a number of tips that you should know about.

Tips for Creating a 1940s Hair Style

Choose Side Parts

In the 1940s, you never saw a woman part her hair in the middle. This type of part, which is very common nowadays, is very ordinary. In order to achieve the ultimate 1940s hair style, you will want to consider parting your hair to the left or to the right. Keep in mind that even no part is better than a middle part, if you really want a 1940's hairstyle.

Opt for Curls

Forties Hair style PictureNo matter what 1940s hair style you are trying to create, it is likely that you will need to include curls. These were a major elements of forties hairstyles. It was not as common for hair to be worn straight and when it appeared to be, it was typically just frizzy or wavy. The best way to achieve the type of curls that were worn during the 40's is to use rollers. Bobby pins and barrettes were commonly used hair accessories with curls.

Hi there,
I was wondering if one of you could tell me how to recreate the same hairdo of 1940s hairstyles as the girl in the picture (above)? I absolutely love it but I can't seem to find anything on the Internet that would tell me how to do it.
Thanks for the help!
