Applying Powder - How to Apply Makeup Face Powder
FACE POWDER - THE SMOOTH FIX
Loose powder should be applied with a large, soft brush (larger than your blusher brush) or pressed on with a velour pad in order to set make-up thoroughly. Brush off any excess with your powder brush.
How Face Powder is Applied
Pressed powder is applied with a pad and is particularly suitable for retouching makeup, during the day. For the most natural finish (matte and invisible) use a translucent powder. It reflects light to give the skin a luminous, satiny quality. Heavily pigmented powders are out-dated, usually look artificial and are generally best left well alone!
Colour correction powders are brush-on instant beautifiers. They come in pressed or loose form and are simply applied over foundation in the areas they are needed. Use them individually as follows:
White adds luminosity to the complexion and is particularly good for evening.
Mauve/violet warms up a sallow complexion.
Green tones down high colour.
Pink gives a healthy glow to pale skin.
Blue tones down high colour.
Apricot gives a healthy glow to olive skin that lacks brightness.
