Homemade facial scrubs
Homemade facial scrubs are becoming increasingly popular as it becomes more and more expensive to purchase facial scrubs from companies such as Avon and Bath and Beauty. While many people believe that homemade facial scrubs would be difficult to create or would not work as well as the commercial facial scrubs, this is in fact a falsity since they are often easy to create and just as effective as the commercial facial washes.
What are the Uses and Benefits of a Facial Scrub?
Facial scrubs have a primary and a secondary function:
Facial scrubs Primary Function - The primary function is to scrub off the dead or dying skin cells from the face to provide for a cleaner and brighter face. This means that the scrub must have an exfoliate and that it must be gentle enough not to damage the face but strong enough to remove dead cells.
Facial scrubs Secondary Function - The secondary purpose of facial scrubs is to remove oils and grease that can clog the pores and cause acne. This means that the scrub must have soap to it to combat the oils.
Homemade Facial Scrub Recipe
The most common of the facial scrubs is a lemon and sugar facial scrub.
To create this facial scrub at home, take a tablespoon of dial anti-bacterial soap, a cup of sugar, and enough lemon juice to create a paste. Simply mix the three ingredients well to create a paste that one can apply to the face. Then simply apply the desired amount to the face using a circular motion and rinse. The left over homemade facial scrub can then be stored in an airtight container and used at a later date.
