This item was filled under [ Hair Color ]

There are many ways of bleaching and toning your hair apart from a whole-head bleach process or the usual regrowth application. The hair can be:

Highlighted – Colour can be applied or lightened in contrasting streaks or areas.
Lowlighted – colour can be applied or lightened in streaks or areas, matched closely to the general colour.
Tipped, frosted, striped or vari-coloured – names given to various degrees and techniques of lightening or toning parts of the hair.
Shaded without lightening – for instance, adding darker or warmer shades to naturally fair hair, or burgundy/plum shades to brown hair.

Methods of Bleaching and Hair Colouring

To achieve the variety of effects possible, there are several ways in which you can make the bleach or colour application. Always follow manufacturer’s instructions on how to use their hair products.

Colouring Cups: These are small plastic containers in which the bleach or colour can be safely contained.

Dappling: It is a popular means of using bleach or hair colour to produce varied effects.

Aluminium Foil: This can be ideal for firmly wrapping bleached or coloured parcels of hair. Different coloured foils can be used to identify different areas and colours used.

Highlight Caps: Basic ‘lighting’ resources, which can be used to achieve advanced effects such as multi-lighting, spot lighting or varitioning.

Colour Wraps: These make it easier to process slices, sections or parcels of bleached or coloured hair safely.

Section and Pin: A method of selecting areas of the hair to be coloured by shaping them into curl formations and pinning them into position.
