Buzz Haircuts for Boys
The easiest hairstyles for young boys are classic buzz cuts, in which hair is cut short all over the head with an electric razor. Hair can range in length from 1/8 of an inch (very, very short!) to ¾ inch. Buzz cuts work no matter what the texture of the hair is, but this hairstyle is best suited for summertime, as it may leave the boy's head too cold in winter. One variation of the buzz cut is to leave certain areas of the head, such as the crown, longer, and spike them up with hair gel. This gives a bit more style to a utilitarian cut.
Medium Length Boys Hairstyles
For medium-length boys' hair, a popular hairstyle is to layer the hair from between 1 to 2 inches all over (shorter on the sides, longer on top) with a short bang. This is a great utilitarian boys hairstyle because when the hair is messed up, the layers make it less noticeable.

Longer hair for boys is currently making a comeback as well. Long shags are especially popular because their varied-length layers actually look better when they are messed up.
