There are many different diet plans available to consumers. Some of them eliminate carbohydrates, while others encourage them. Some Diet plans that focus on specific conditions, like diabetes, or high blood pressure. And some of the most traditional diet plans simply focus on the amount of fat a person consumes. Eliminating the amount of fat in your diet is a sure way of experiencing weight loss. Some of the most popular diets, which avoid fat, are low-fat diets.

Low fats diets are diets that strictly limit dieters' intake of fat on a daily basis. Not only do low-fat diets focus on fat intake, but they also stress calorie intake, as well. Many of these limit a person's daily allowance of calories. A typical limit would be in the range of 1,500 to 2,000.

If for example the number were 2,000, then the person's over all fat intake, should not be, more than 30% of the total calories. In other words the daily fat intake should not be more than 66.6 grams, per day. Low-fat diets don't simply tell dieters what foods to avoid. They also stress which foods to consume, to provide the most benefit to your body.

Foods, like whole grains are important. The average low-fat diet will encourage dieters to have anywhere from 6 to 11 servings of whole grains. These would include foods like breads, or even pastas. Fruit is also crucial to a low-fat diet plan. Dieters should eat 2 to 4 servings of these each day.

Other foods that are in a low-fat diet are dairy products, as well as, vegetables and lean proteins.

You should have anywhere from 2 to 3 servings of dairy each day. And as far as vegetables are concerned, the optimal amount is 3 to 5 servings. One cup of these should be raw, if at all possible. When selecting proteins, finding lean mean is important to maintain the guidelines of low-fat dieting.

As you begin your search for the low-fat diet that is right for you, there are a few things to consider. First of all, what are your weight goals? Do you have a specific amount of weight you'd like to lose? If you don't have these planned out, take some time to do so. This is a great way to tailor your expectations and your goals at the same time.
