80's Mens Fashion Tips

The 1980's were really reminiscent of many decades of hay days of the past. In many arenas, the country was experiencing some of the prosperity, it had not in a long time. The 80's was not only an important time financially, but in other ways as well. Music, was a big deal in the 80's. In fact, some of the most ingenious forms of music and dance hit the scene in this decade. Because of this popular culture, was changed forever.

Because of the in roads made in the 80's, many subsequent styles in music, and fashion were able to develop. Some, of the most, avant garde styles of today, found their roots in the 80's. Women and men wore fashions during this time that were primarily new designs. Some of these styles originated in the decades past, but by and large fashion experienced a rebirth in the 80's.

How did fashion effect men's styles in the 80's?

If we look at the decades before the 80's, we see an evolution of men's fashions. The 50's fashions were totally business apparel for men. Although some men, worked outside and dress to that purpose, business suits were common. The 60's brought in the hippy rush! Even though only limited number of men, especially rockers, wore jeans and tie dyes, the look was forced to the forefront.

People got used to seeing, extremely relaxed looks in men. This was something that was fresh and new, if not widely popular. The freedom of the 60's let way for the 70's. Men's dress adopted some of the 60's freedom, through casual wear. You saw more casual suits, and slacks. Men even felt comfortable with styles that included jeans and T-shirts.

The 80's were still incorporating disco styles, with the new hip hop wave of music. Men had shed three piece suits, for relaxed fit suits with slim looking collars. Everyone, was one the Miami Vice phase, and wore T-shirts underneath jackets. These jackets embraced bright and bold colors, and usually included shoulder pads.

Jogging suit styles were hot in the 80's men fashion. Men, women, and children donned wild designs and colored jogging suits, most of which had a satiny appearance.

Preppie 80's mens fashions had their own sense of appeal, too.

The music of the 80's did set the tone for a lot of the fashion trends. There was also a resurgence of some 50's fashions during this period. Styles like oxfords, and polo shirts were commonly seen on young people. Bobbie socks, even showed their faces again in popular styles. These accompanied many types of designer jeans.

Both men and women wore argyle sweaters in the 80's. Unlike the past, these looks were mostly casual, and could be coupled with jeans.

Men's hairstyles in the 80's complimented their fashion.

In white males, bangs were a big hit in 80's mens fashion. They wore a lot of fluffy bangs against their foreheads. This was a carefree style no matter what they wore. Black men, were wearing high tops, with faded sides. This haircut copied many popular hip hop artists of the day.
