Bursitis, Symptoms & Home Remedies for Bursitis Treatment
Bursitis is a disease where the bursa is inflamed. What is a bursa? It is the plural form of bursae, the small fluid filled cavity which acts as gliders to prevent or minimize friction between the tissues in the body. The prominent bursae are located alongside the tendons, near the large joints which are the shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees.
CAUSES OFBursitis INFLAMMATION:

Signs and Symptoms of Bursitis
Common signs and symptoms:
- Localized pain to the affected area.
- Pain is dull or there is a feeling of stiffness.
- Pain is experienced on joint areas.
- Pain comes while moving.
- Affected areas feel swollen and warm.
Specific sign and symptoms:
Shoulder - lifting and extending arms are uncomfortable, pain is worse at night, decreased shoulder range of motion and tender in some areas.
Elbow - pain increases when the elbow is bent because of increased tension over the bursa and signs of infection; swelling, pain, and redness.
Knee - pain is most likely to occur when the knees are bent and burdensome during the night, limited rage of motion for the legs, tender on some areas.
Home Remedies for Bursitis Treatment
Immerse a cloth in mullein tea and apply it on the affected area, repeat application on regular intervals.
Apply ice on the affected area to reduce pain and inflammation.
Apply lobelia oil to prevent stiffness on the affected parts.
To promote healing process, use chamomile, hops, and skullcap tea.
Increase calcium and vitamin B 12 intakes, lack of these 2 nutrients contribute to inflammation.
Include magnesium rich foods in your regular diet.
Take a concoction of water, apple cider vinegar, and honey.
Make sure to have enough rest to shorten healing time.
Grate potato and immerse in a cup of water overnight; take two teaspoons of this mixture.
Prepare cayenne pepper and apple cider vinegar and apply it on the affected joint.
Rub warm olive oil on the surface of the affected area, this will help reduce pain and limits the recurrence of bursitis.
Add lavender oil to bath water to relieve pain.
Sandalwood paste can be used to soothe the affected area.
Apply ginger directly on skin or take ginger internally.
Apply emu oil to relieve joint pains. It has high concentration of linolenic acid that has an anti inflammatory effect.
Apply castor oil and cover it with cotton to provide relief from bursitis, this home remedy will be more effective if you will use a heating pad, heat will help reduce pain and swelling.
