Headache is a stabbing pain you feel in your head, above the eyes or behind the head. It is medically known as Cephalalgia, which can occur as mild or intense thumping sensation in the head. Anybody can experience headache, this is one of the common illnesses today.
Classification of Headaches
Headache is divided into three categories; primary, secondary and migraine.
Primary Headache - is a simple and normal headache. It occurs outside the skull and can be due to muscle tension or blood vessel tightening. Examples of primary headaches are tension headaches and cluster headache.
Secondary Headache - it occurs due to other medical conditions like infections and other minor or major diseases. Different types of secondary headaches depend on what causes it; it also has different medication for each type.
Migraine - this is the worst and most chronic type. It is an extreme pain you can feel in either one side or both side of the head. The pain is accompanied by vomiting and nausea. Women are more likely to have migraine than men. It affects people who are fifteen to fifty five years old.

There are lots of factors that can trigger headache such as allergy, stress, high blood pressure, hunger, toxins or poison in the body, hangover, eyestrain, sinusitis and other medical condition.
Home Remedies for Headache Treatment
Being a common illness, there are lots of over the counter medications for headache. But you can also treat your headache with natural home remedies that are cheaper, safer and as effective. You can try the following home remedies:
Coconut - this is a yummy treat and an effective home remedy for headache. Simply mix equal part of coconut and sugar and cook it on low heat to create candy. Let it cool and eat it.
Sandalwood - finely ground sandalwood to create a paste. Apply it on your forehead and let it dry. This is a very simple yet effective home remedy for headache.
Steam therapy - boil water and put it in a basin. Cover you head with towel and lean over the basin. Inhale the steam to clear your nasal air ways. It is one of the best home remedy for headache due to sinusitis.
Cow butter - put a few drops of cow butter in your nostrils. Do this for seven days to relieve headache due to sinusitis.
Mustard seed - mix half a teaspoon of mustard seed powder with water; apply directly in your nostrils. This will help soothe migraine and headache.
Honey - drink honey and water mixture every morning to relieve chronic headaches. This is another simple yet effective home remedy for headache.
Rosemary oil-you can use this to massage your head for immediate headache relief.
Grape juice - drinking grape juice is proven beneficial in soothing any type of headache.
Cloves - you can inhale this to clear your nostrils or you can grind this finely to create a paste; you can then massage it to your head to soothe thumping nerves.
If you are recurrent headache, you must avoid drinking too much coffee or alcohol. Eating oily and spicy foods can only worsen your headache , so you must also avoid it.
