Peptic Ulcer, Symptoms & Home Remedies for Peptic Ulcer Treatment

Peptic ulcer happens when the inside lining of the stomach and esophagus have open sores. It happens when the acid that helps us in digesting foods damage the stomach walls.

Symptoms and Signs of Peptic Ulcer

Pain in the abdomen is the most common symptom of peptic ulcer. It can be felt anywhere from the breastbone down to the navel. It can last for a few minutes or an hour. It can worsen if you have an empty stomach and temporarily disappear after eating. Vomiting of black or red blood are also symptoms of peptic ulcer. Losing weight and change of appetites are also signs that you have a peptic ulcer.

The bacteria called Helicobacter pylori or H. pylori is the most common and major cause of peptic ulcer. It is also caused by a regular intake of pain relievers; it can inflame or irritate the lining of your small intestine and stomach. Another caused is smoking; nicotine concentrates and increases the volume of the acid in the stomach. Excessive consumption of alcohol can erode and irritate the stomach's mucous lining. Stress is not a culprit but can aggravate the symptoms of peptic ulcer and can delay its healing.

Classifications of Peptic Ulcer

Peptic ulcer is divided into different classifications. First is the gastric ulcer that occurs in the stomach. Next is the duodenal ulcer that occurs in the small intestine. And last is the esophageal ulcer that is usually found in the esophagus' lower section. There are also different types of peptic ulcer. The type I up to type V. Type I is the ulcer along the stomach's lesser curve. Type II have two ulcers; one duodenal and one gastric. Type III is the prepyloric ulcer. Type IV is the proximal gastro esophageal ulcer. And type V is ulcer that can be seen anywhere in the body of gastric.

Complications in Peptic Ulcer

Internal bleeding is one of the complications of peptic ulcer. Blood losses lead to anemia or a severe loss blood that can cause hospitalization or transfusion of blood. Stomach or small intestine can have a hole on the wall that can lead to a serious infection to the abdominal cavity. You can have a scar tissue that can be the caused of vomiting and losing weight because the food's passage in the digestive tract can be obstructed by this.

Home Remedies for Peptic Ulcer Treatment

Ulcer can cause discomfort and pain in the abdomen. The pain occurs not too after meal is a sharp one. Banana can be a good remedy for ulcer because it calms the acid in the stomach and can reduce the ulcers aggravation; it should be take two to three times a day. Almond and goats milk are another beneficial home remedy for peptic ulcer. Almond milk grab the stomach's acid and add protein to the body while the goats milk can heal the peptic ulcer and gives comfort. Juices of vegetables can be a good help too. Juice of carrot combined with the juice of beet is more beneficial.

You can also try and use these following natural home remedies for peptic ulcer:

  1. Wood Apple - infuse 15grms of wood apple leaves with 250ml water. Take this concoction everyday to relieve pain and discomfort. It is rich in tannins which is an effective home remedy for ulcers.
  2. Cabbage - boil 250grms of cabbage in 500ml of water. Boil and reduce to one half. Take this twice daily. It is another useful home remedy for your ulcer.
  3. Fenugreek seeds - is another proven and effective home remedy you can use. Soak in water and take this tea to protect your stomach from further damage.
