Skin Rashes - Causes of Skin Rashes

Any doctor or dermatologist would tell you that skin rashes are not at all uncommon. However, there are so many people out there who have no clue as to what may cause a skin rash. If you have an idea of what may be causing your skin rash, there is a good chance that you may be able to prevent yourself from visiting the doctor by simply avoid the factor in the future. Here, you will learn about some of the common potential causes of skin rashes.

Causes of Skin Rashes

Allergic Reactions

Probably the most common cause of skin rashes are allergic reactions. There are a number of different things that you may be allergic to which may cause you to experience a skin rash. Certain medications or vaccinations may trigger a skin rash. Certain foods, as well as certain dyes that are used in foods or inks may also cause a skin rash to develop if you are exposed to them. Another very common cause of skin rashes are stings or bites of insects that you may be allergic to, such as bees or spiders. Exposure to soaps, perfumes or other body care products can also cause skin rashes to occur.

Certain Infections

Certain types of bacterial, fungal or viral infections are also known to cause skin rashes to occur. Some of the different common infections which cause you to experience a skin rash include chickenpox, smallpox, ring worms, measles and cold sores. If you know that you have one of these infects, you should not worry too much about your skin rash. If you have not been diagnosed with one of these conditions, it is a good idea to consider getting tested for them because it may be something more serious than just a skin rash. Also keep in mind that conditions such as Scarlet Fever or Staph infection may also cause a skin rash.

Tight Clothing

When tight clothing clings to the body and rubs against the skin, it is possible for it to cause a skin rash. The best way to prevent this from happening to you again in the future is to wear looser fitting clothing, instead of tight clothing. During the time that you have a skin rash caused by this, or any other type of skin rash for that matter, it is a good idea to stop wearing tight clothing for the time being.

Other Causes

There are a number of other causes of skin rashes. Some of these include, but are not limited to: pregnancy, lead poisoning, acne, eczema and stress. If you experience any type of skin rash, the best thing that you can do is visit a doctor if it does not seem to go away after a few days or if it becomes increasingly redder, swollen or oozes puss. Although it may not be anything too serious, you will want make sure that it definitely is not so that you can prevent it from becoming worse.

It is also important to keep in mind that a simple skin rash actually could mean that you have a form of skin cancer and a very important key to successful treatment is early detection.
