Damaged Hair

Hair damage is very common. There are a variety of different factors which can cause damaged hair. Some of these factors include certain methods of styling and the effects of the sun or cold weather. If your hair is incredibly dry, frizzy and hard to style or manage, it is likely that you are experiencing damaged hair. In order to fix this common problem, it is important to learn more about treatment and prevention of hair damage.

Damaged Hair Treatment

There are many products available on the market which claim that they will treat damaged hair and repair split ends. It is important for you to understand that these products do not work. Although there are some products on the market that will help you manage your hair better, they will not repair split ends or hair damage. There is one way that you can treat hair damage, however.

All that you need to do is get rid of the split ends. In some cases, this may mean that you simply need to get a simple trim. In others, however, it may mean that you will need to opt for a much shorter hairstyle. Until you cut off all of the hair, you will not be able to get rid of all the damage.

Damaged Hair Prevention Tips

If you have experienced hair damage, then you probably already know that it is not something that you will want to deal with on a regular basis as it makes caring for your hair seem impossible. It is important to realize that there are a number of ways that you can prevent damaged hair. Some of these ways include, but are not limited to:

1. Do not overdo it with certain hairstyling methods, such as using the curling iron or the flat iron. Your hair will experience heat damage if you use these hairstyling methods too frequently. It is best to not use them any more than twice a week. Also be sure to use a quality serum to protect your hair against the heat.

2. Let your hair dry naturally whenever possible. This is another important key to reducing the amount of heat damage that your hair will experience.

3. Be sure to use a moisturizing conditioner to help ensure that your hair does not become too dry. Once a week, be sure to use a clarifying shampoo and/or conditioner, as this will help reduce the amount of unwanted residue that you may have in your hair.

4. Always comb your hair when it is wet. If a comb is not available, wait until your hair has dried before you brush it.

5. Don't dye your hair two extremely different colors often (e.g. black and then bleach blonde). If you are going to make a change in hair dye, you will want to do it subtly. For example dye your hair from black to dark brown to light brown to dark blonde to bleach blonde. Remember that your hair will need extra miniaturization if you do decide to dye your hair.
