Prom Shoes

Shoes are a must have in every young girls closet. Shoes are a fashion statement that is an expression of style. Choosing the right shoes for the prom is an important task. You want to make sure that the shoes match the dress color or have shoes that will not clash with the dress. There are so many different styles of dresses, so there has to be an assortment of different shoes as well. Like pairing good food with good wine, they same rule apply to pairing the right shoes with the right dress. When one decides on a shoe for the prom, they have to decide if they want stilettos, wedges, pumps, flats, open toed or closed toed shoes and more. Your personal style and type of dress you purchase will have a major impact on what type of shoe you want. So here is a brief overview of the various shoe types that will help you pick out the perfect shoe to compliment your dress.

Prom Shoes Ideas

Strappy Sandals - Especially ones with a high wedged heel goes great with a high/low hem gown. Because it makes you appear taller by elongating your legs.

Low heels or soft flats go great with a floor length grown, since the feet are hidden you don't have to focus too much on an extravagant shoe. These shoes will help you move around gracefully and give you lots of comfort

Stiletto - These sexy high heels go great with sleek and long gowns or short and sassy gowns to give off the ultimate flirtatious look

Sling backs - Sling backs are great for dying to match the exact color of your dress. These types of shoes go great with flared dresses and floor length A-line Gowns

Open-Toed - It does not matter if they are short heel, high heel, or flats. Open toed shoes really are a nice touch to any style of dress. However they are great with empire cut dresses as well as long and sleek dress. Basically open-toed shoes can come in sandal, stiletto, wedge, heel form and still be knocking out shoe. Just make sure you get a pedicure and paint your toes pretty to complete your overall look.

Choosing Prom Shoes

It is best to go to stores in your local area and try on different types of shoes, preferably with the prom dress you plan to wear. You want to make sure the style matches and you want to have a comfort level in your shoe, so you won't have blisters by the end of the night. Some dresses have such a unique color that shoes cannot be found in the same color, luckily the have shoes for dying as well as spray paint, where you can create the same color of your dress on your shoe.

If this entire shoe craze is making you crazy, you can always bring a pair of elegant slippers or studded flip flops, if your feet get too tired from standing all night long. You should have a great time at the prom, without having to worry about your feet, right?
