Ivy League Schools

There aren't many people who have not heard of Ivy League schools. The list of Ivy League schools got their classification in 1954. Before these schools got their socially elite reputations, they were considered to be something else. The classification of Ivy League schools was originally connected to athletics.

These schools were determined to be an athletic conference, which included 8 private institutions of higher education. Now days these 8 schools are most commonly referred to as places of academic excellence. Although the list of Ivy League schools, were declared so after the formation of the NCAA Division I, academics have excelled their popularity.

One Ivy League school on the list is Brown University.

Brown University is located in Providence , Rhode Island . Brown University , on the list of Ivy League schools, is one of the most popular schools in the country. Like all of the other schools on that list, Brown University is not a cheap school. Attending this university requires two primary components.

Students must have achieved a level of academic excellence in high school. In other words, receiving just minimal grades would not gain you admission to Brown. Parents must understand that this university will require an enormous amount, of finances. The accolades that stems from attending this school, will follow you for life.

Two on the list of Ivy League schools, are located in New York .

There are two Ivy League schools that call New York home. The first is Columbia University , known for its roots in New York . Columbia is also internationally known for academic excellence. Some, of the most well known, elites in our society today, attended Columbia .

The other New York , Ivy League school is Cornell University . Cornell like all other schools on this list, has received a reputation of producing successful people. Some of the most productive people in the upper echelons of the country graduated from Cornell.

Dartmouth and Harvard are two familiar schools on the list of 8.

Dartmouth College in Hanover , New Hampshire is one of the Ivy League schools. This school has earned many accolades for its production of famous citizens. Dartmouth is committed to providing a topnotch education to those, who are academically inclined. Students attending Dartmouth , have already shown a desire to become successful in their careers.

Harvard may be the most popular of the Ivy League schools. The mere mention of the name Harvard, brings to mind intelligence, and excellence. Some of the most famous and influential people, in the world today, graduated from Harvard. This school has a long history, and is a staple in American society.

The final three Ivy League schools have reputations that proceeds them.

Princeton University in Princeton , New Jersey is one of the northeast's most famous schools. Not only is it an Ivy League school, but one with a reputation committed to higher learning. The University of Pennsylvania , in Philadelphia , has produced its fair share of intellectuals, too. Yale University , most commonly referred to as Yale, has graduated well-known business people. Some of these have gone on to the presidency of the United States .
